Hi, My name is Kathie and I am a 52 yr. old graduate of Strayer University. I have obtained my Bachelors of Criminal Justice. I discuss what the journey has been like and continues to be like trying to juggle school, work, family and friends all the while maintaining a 3.8 GPA. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in both my Associates and Bachelor’s Degrees and I will soon be starting my Masters in Criminal Justice at the University of Cincinnati. I have taken classes both online and on campus. What a journey it has been. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. I’m sharing everything, the ups and downs and the times I wanted to give up. Success has to be earned and I’m doing that class by class. These last four years have been full of everything from my just being PETRIFIED to my son receiving a life threatening injury during what was supposed to be my last quarter. ‘
Obtaining my degrees has not been an easy feat. FAR FROM IT! I have literally had 16 quarters of Stress, Family Problems, Deaths and more…. But I managed to pull myself together each time and rise above it all and SO CAN YOU! If you’re looking for excuses to quit – YOU WILL NOT FIND THAT HERE!
Here you will find strength and hope and encouragement. You will experience it through humor and straight to the point. Come along for the journey and share yours as well….
THIS BLOG IS NOT FOR SISSIES 🙂
ENJOY!
Kathie
Thanks for following me on Twitter. My writing is off-the-cuff and on-the-lamb; stolen, as it were, from my fragmented mind. Sometimes I write intellectually, sometimes emotionally. Sometimes I curse with frustrations. I will always tell you what I think kindly and honestly because I try to be that way. Kind and honest.
I don’t know if I have any sort of wisdom. I think not! But I’d like to be your blogging friend. Please read my ‘about’ and keep in touch!
TD.
Congrats to you on going back to school. I well understand, as I juggled family while studying for both my undergrad and masters. People often asked me how I did it and I would always respond that it wasn’t something I sat down to think about, I just did it because I had to.
You’re studying an interesting field and I’m sure you’ll go on to do just as well with your higher degree. All my best to you.
Yours is a motivating story. Will like to invite you as a motivational speaker to one of our student or adult forum in Maryland. Many adults often write it off at certain age, but you beat the tides and won. With African background and a long term educationist, i know exactly the benefits of endless education and learning. keep it up KATHIE.
Thank you very much. I would love to speak at your forum. Can you please tell me more? Are you foloowing my blog? I just posted another one today. Are you with a specific University?
Very interesting blog. I love Your determination. I know You will do what you say You will Do. God Bless
Well done for going back to study! I love having adult learners in class. They always seem to have insight into things as a school leaver I don’t have. 🙂 Good luck!
